I have fought off plenty of colds with high doses of vitamin C, but I have never before heard that lemons were being showcased as a possible cure for the Spanish Flu back in 1918.
Hand the Flu a Lemon
Spanish influenza doesn’t like lemons. Lemons are said to be flu foes.
European people, who first suffered flu attacks, resorted to the lemon treatment. Italians took to government of Rome has had their aid by squelching the lemon speculators, who hoarded these flu foes to boost the price.
Boston instituted the lemon cure when the epidemic hit Massachusetts. Other flu stricken localities have started taking the lemon treatment. Uncounted barrels of hot lemonade have been drunk to drown the flu germs. This has caused a lemon shortage in America.
The lemon crop must be conserved. Don’t waste a lemon. Save them for the flu fight. If you are not a flu victim deny yourself that glass of lemonade.
