Most ant superstitions are tied to the weather. Our ancestors believed that the lowly ant was better at predicting the weather than most other animals.
1. Rain
Stepping on a bunch of ants will bring rain.
2. To See a Goblin
A very strange superstition claims that if you go into the forest on St. John’s day, between noon and 1 pm, and come to an ant hill with a bird standing on it, the finder will speak long lost magic words to it. The bird will then transform into a goblin and return home with the finder where the goblin will perform all tasks asked of him.
3. Fairies
Cornish peasants believed that ants were fairies in disguise.
4. Fine Weather
When you see fresh dirt piles surrounding ant holes, it means the ants are busy working because the weather will remain fair.
5. To Get Over Love
It was believed that the quickest way to fall out of love with someone and recover from heartache was to eat ant eggs mixed with honey.
6. Dream of Ants in Home
If you dream that there are ants inside your home, sickness is coming.
7. Nest at Your Door
If ants build a nest by your front door, expect riches to come. Destroying the nest, however, will destroy your wealth.
8. Dream of Ants on Your Food
If you dream that there are ants crawling all over your food, don’t despair. It is a sign that you will soon be very happy.
9. Bad Weather
If you see ants bustling about and carrying their eggs, it means bad weather is on the way.
10. Make a Wish
If you find an ant crawling on you, put him in your hand, make a wish, and set him safely back on the ground.
