It was not uncommon in the 1950s to the 1970s for parents to test their children for psychic abilities. In fact, women’s magazines as well as newspapers published different tests to perform on children to see if they had telepathic abilities.
In 1961, The Australian Women’s Weekly (May 10, 1961) published the cards you see below for parents to begin working on their children’s psychic abilities.
Parents were instructed to cut out these cards depicting known children’s toys and to glue them onto cardboard or the pressed board used for cereal boxes. The parent would then choose a card, focus on the image, and try to either send that image to the child or have the child read the image from the parent’s mind.
