John Melton, a farmer from Carrollton, Mo., crafted his own summer suits using corn husks.

In 1925, it was reported that:
“The high cost of clothing does not bother John Melton, farmer and bachelor, of Carrollton, Mo. He takes corn husks, colors, and weaves them into a fabric, which he says makes an extremely cool suit for the summer.”
