Ancient Spanish Coins Found in 1932 by Oregon Miner

While mining at Dirty Buzzard Bar along the Rogue River in Oregon in 1932, miner Rollie Alexander uncovered two ancient Spanish coins, dated 1780 and 1711.

The coins are believed to have been carried upriver by Native Americans, who likely obtained them through trade with early Spanish explorers.

The discovery provided a rare glimpse into historical interactions between Native Americans and Spanish traders in the region.
