Who was the old soldier of Bister? He was the subject of a rather old nursery rhyme.

Did you ever hear of the Old Soldier of Bister, who went walking one day with his sister? Well, do you know what happened to his sister? What do you think, they were walking along as nice as you please, and he was telling his sister all about the great wars he had been in, and they were enjoying the fine scenery in the park; there was the grass and pretty flowers, the trees and sky to see as they went along. The old soldier was glad to be with his sister, but an ugly old cow at one poke tossed her into an oak before the old gentleman missed her.
