From over a hundred years ago to the present day, there have been numerous claims to finding the lost dutchman mine. This claim is from 1903.
Chased Dog Into Tunnel
Word has reached Phoenix from Casa Grande that the Lost Dutchman mine has been found again. A prospector came into Mesa a few days ago with some rich chunks of rock. He told a story about his dog chasing a rabbit one afternoon, and following the rabbit he stumbled onto a small opening which proved to be a tunnel.
This tunnel is located in the Superstition mountains, where the Lost Dutchman has for many years been thought to exist.
The man is said to be backed by W.C. Green; at least he wired him of the find. Old timers are all wrought up over the find.
