Two Cheeky Cockroach Poems from Old Newspapers

Why on earth would anyone want to write a poem about a cockroach is beyond me, yet back in the early 20th century two different people wrote cockroach poems and the newspapers printed them.

The first poem, The Cockroach, was printed in numerous newspapers across the United States in 1908. Yes, it is a cute poem and yet it also gives one the creepy crawlies.

The second poem, A Philosophical Cockroach, was published in 1892. It is a cheeky poem with a happy ending, at least for me. I would rather have the cockroach squashed than playing in my food.
