Skull Mold Tested With Resin and Cement

My son and I each bought the Let’s Resin Silicone Skull Molds and tested them out with resin and cement. The results were surprising.

Disclaimer: My son and I bought these molds with our own money. We were not asked to review this product. The Amazon link to the molds we bought is an affiliate link. If you click the link and purchase the mold, I might get a few cents for recommending the mold to you.

Resin

My son, the resin-ist, bought the mold first. He stuffed the mold with dry moss for his first skull and did a clear pour. (I do not work with resin, so my terminology for this craft is limited.)

The results were stunning. There were no problems with this mold.

Cement

After my son’s success with the Let’s Resin Silicone Skull Mold, I purchased a second one for cement pouring.

First, I washed and dried the mold.

I mixed the cement (Portland cement and sand) and poured it in.

Because the temperatures are still cold, I have to wait three days before I unmold the skull to prevent any damage to it.

The skull came out near perfect, as you can see in the photo.

I allowed the cement skull to dry for a week, gave it a black base paint, and then dabbed it with brushed bronze.

The piece is stunning, and I am in the process of making more to sell.

This skull mold is my favorite of all the molds I have bought these past few months and is highly recommended!
