Thinking they had found a corpse along the railroad tracks, the coroner and other men went to collect the body. Imagine their surprise when he woke up!
“Corpse” Able to Walk
Stillwater, Oh. – The body of a man supposedly dead, was found in a field along the railroad tracks here the other day.
The coroner and a party went out to investigate.
They lifted the man into a wagon and started for Stillwater.
Farmers came from all around.
One of them asked:
“Is he dead?”
“Quite dead,” answered the coroner, who was sitting on the tailboard of the wagon.
The next instant he was sprawling on the ground.
“You’re a liar!” Shouted the “corpse,” who had knocked the coroner off the wagon.
The crowd made a rush for him, but he escaped.
In his wake he left a well-defined odor, which explained all.
