Headless body of woman found; 17 women reported missing

The year is 1927, and another headless body has been found near St. Mary’s College for Girls in Wisconsin. What is even scarier is that 17 other women have been reported missing from the area over the past nine months.

Gruesome Murder Uncovered Close to St. Mary’s College

South Bend, Wn. – Officers investigating the gruesome murder of two men yesterday found a woman’s headless body in a tiny cove of the St. Poe River on the grounds of St. Mary’s College for Girls [Mount Mary University].

The arms and shoulders and parts of the trunk were missing. Both legs were broken at the hips and bent back, the heels touching the thighs and tied with a cord.

Seventeen women are reported missing from South Bend within the last nine months.

The woman found might have been killed four months ago. She was about 30 years of age.
