3 men drop dead body off at bar, claimed deceased was just drunk

Three men showed up at a bar in 1860. The had with them a body of a man. Claiming that the deceased man was merely drunk, they tried to leave his body at the bar, but someone removed the shirt covered the body’s face and found it hid a horrifying mess.

Murder

One night last week three Irishmen came to the Inn at Furney’s Run kept by Mr. King, and asked if he woud keep a drunken man over night; at the same time laying down the body of a man in the barroom.

Someone in the barroom removed a shirt from the face of the body, which had been placed over it, and at once saw that the person was dead.

The three Irishmen were then ordered into another room, and guarded by one man until an officer arrived from his place, who took them into custody and they are now confined in our jail.

Upon examining the dead man, it was found that the back part of his skull had been beaten into a jelly. Upon further examination, blood was found on one of the Irishmen arrested, and upon the snow a few rods from the house where the man was murdered.
