Teen Nearly Drowned After Sudden Cramps at McKinley Beach

Fifteen-year-old Isabella Ribanski was swimming at Milwaukee’s McKinley Beach when a sudden cramp left her struggling in the water.

Her screams drew the attention of nearby swimmers, but she lost consciousness before they could reach her. After being carried ashore, lifeguards immediately began artificial respiration while an emergency rescue squad was summoned.

By the time help arrived, the girl had revived, and had narrowly escaped what could have been a fatal afternoon at the beach.

MILWAUKEE, Wisonsin. — Isabella Ribanski, 15, narrowly escaped drowning late yesterday while bathing at McKinley beach.

The girl was seized by cramps. Her screams attracted the attention of swimmers nearby, but before they reached her she had lapsed into unconsciousness.

She was carried ashore, where artificial respiration was applied by life guards and a hurry call sent for the fire department rescue squad.

By the time the squad arrived, however, the girl was revived and was none the worse for her experience.
