John Johnson went to the police looking for help after claiming he had been drugged and robbed at a Ritzville gambling house.
According to the 1902 report, Johnson said he had entered the resort around midnight, shared drinks with a woman, and later woke to discover that $53, his overcoat, and his pocketbook were gone.
He returned to court hoping to secure a warrant against the woman he blamed for the incident.
Instead, Johnson allegedly showed up intoxicated, caused a disturbance, and found himself on the wrong side of the jail door.

RITZVILLE, Washington. — John Johnson, a tiller of the soil wo lives near Ritzville, reports that he was drugged and robbed at the Stockholm gambling house.
Johnson claims he went into the resort about midnight and there he saw a fascinating Miss and drank with her.
After this, he states, he knew nothing of what went on and when he did recover, he was minus $53, an overcoat, and his pocketbook.

He states that Alma Green was his lady companion in the drinking affair.
Johnson appeared this morning and inquired for information regarding a warrant for Alma Green. Officer Burns told him to come back after 1 o’clock and he did so, but was, it is said, intoxicated and made a general disturbance in the police court.
As a result, Chief Reddy ordered him locked up, and now Johnson is sorry he spoke.
