American history is full of possible Bigfoot sightings. All one has to do is search through the old newspapers to read up on sightings of wild men and hairy creatures.
As for the wild man of Ohio…
It looked like a man, but acted like a beast, according to the hunters of Holmes County, Ohio in 1886. The man, if it was a man, was covered from head to toes in thick, matted hair and was seen darting between bushes while the hunters were having a meal break.
The hunters decided to follow the strange creature until it turned around and, facing them, gave out several guttural cried. It then came towards them and although the men all had guns, they turned and ran away from it.
After a short distance, the creature stopped chasing them, turned away once again, and went into the creek. Then hunters said that the creature plunged into the water and began swimming across it like a dog.
The men were so frightened by that point that they returned home and decided not to go back to that location ever again. [source]
