An unusual burial occurred in 1897 when a Kentucky man requested that he be buried in whiskey.

Charles Bramlette, of Robertson county, and one of the oldest inhabitants in the county, was buried at Kentontown [on] Sunday. Some time before his death he had the coffin hewn out of stone, in which he was buried. In his cellar he kept a barrel of old Bourbon which he requested to be poured over his remains. He wanted to be buried in a silk hat. His requests were fully carried out. The total expense of his burial amounted to $1,000.
