5 Agate Stone Superstitions

Agate stones come in so many different colors, making them an all time favorite among those who like unusual, natural looking jewelry. In birth stone lore, they are luckiest for those born in June, however, folk belief tells us that everyone can benefit from the agate stone’s powers.

1. Protects Against Lightning

Acorns were a popular items to place on windows to protect the home from lightning strikes. Agate stone came in second in popularity for lightning protective. The belief in the agate’s power of protection is rather simple. Just keep a piece of agate in the home and it should “work like a charm” to keep the lightning away.

2. Black Agate Protection

To protect yourself or a loved one from danger, wear or gift a black agate stone with white veins running through it. It can be made into jewelry or used as a key ring trinket for protection.

3. Bug Bite Fix

In folk magic, it was believed that if you pressed an agate stone against a bug bite, it would take the sting out.

4. Fever Reducer

Another folk belief states that to get rid of a fever, place a polished agate stone on the forehead of the sufferer. The fever would soon break.

5. Gain The Favor Of The Gods

Finally, to gain the favor of the gods, wear a ring made of agate stone.
