Civil War Medicine Symposium in Gettysburg and Online, May 4

The event, a collaborative effort between the Blue & Gray Hospital Association and the Gettysburg Foundation, promises to shed light on an often-overlooked aspect of the American Civil War – the battle to save lives.

Set against the backdrop of the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center, within the Ford Education Center, this one-day event on Saturday, May 4, 2023, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., is your ticket to understanding the complexities and challenges of Civil War-era medical practices.

2024 marks the 3rd annual symposium and will feature an array of topics crucial for a comprehensive understanding of Civil War history. You’ll have the chance to explore:

  • The impact of diseases on the soldiers’ health
